b'Toads CrossingT he seasonal crossing-place of the toads has been marked for many years on the road leading out of Bishop Wilton to Pocklington. The toads migrate to and from the high ground on one side of the road to the pond in the old brickyard on the other, so it is said. Unfortunately, the signs are sufficiently attractive to warrant them being stolen and at the publication date of this Bulletin neither of them is in place to protect the toads from the unwary motorist in 2006.Does anyone have any photographic evidence of the migration of live toads at this crossing-place, we wonder? Has anyone stopped to help toads across the road having seen them in their headlights? The photograph of one of the signs before it disappeared is recorded here for posterity just in case they are not replaced.BULLETIN 13 221'
