The service paints many vivid pictures of what happens on the Christian way.
If you are engaged to be married and looking for a church to be married in, then congratulations! A wedding is one of life's great moments, a time of solemn commitment as well as good wishes, feasting and joy.
If someone you know and love has died, a funeral led by a Church of England minister can be held in church, in a churchyard, by a graveside, or at a crematorium. The minister will be there to support you every step of the way.
Please come and join us at one of our Harvest Festival Services, when we gather with thankful hearts to celebrate God’s goodness and generosity.
Harvest is a beautiful and long-standing celebration. From Bible times and beyond, people have gathered to give thanks for the gifts of the earth and for all that sustains us. It is a time to pray with gratitude for farmers, farm workers, and everyone involved in the food supply chain. It is also a time to remember that it is God who gives us the sun and the rain, and the wonderful agricultural grace by which one seed can produce a harvest.
As the hymn says: “All good gifts around us are sent from heaven above; So thank you, Lord, O thank you, Lord, for all your love.”

These have now been launched in hard copies and are available to every person free of charge. Each tract is an introduction to an aspect of Christianity, and they are all about 20 pages long. Hopefully, they are simple and readable. Currently they are available in St. Edith’s Church, Bugthorpe Church, a few are available in Kirby Underdale. We are making them free BUT we are seeking financial support to grow this project.
The Garrowby Churches are set in the Yorkshire Wolds, and consist of 5 parishes. As worshipping communities we aim to grow ourselves in our faith and discipleship, support and engage with our local communities and bring new people to Christ.
We are blessed with beautiful buildings and faithful commitment from our congregations. As we continue to grow together, we are being enabled to offer a variety of worship and outreach. Lay ministry and leadership is key to all we offer, and encouraged as we endeavour to open the Kingdom and its values to all.
The Christian faith is focused on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. We also believe his death achieved something very special: the opportunity to reconnect with the God that we might believe in but might sometimes feel remote from.
We believe that Jesus was not just a human being but, in some way that we cannot fully understand, God as well. We believe in God the Father, the creator of the entire universe, and the Holy Spirit, who is the way we can experience Jesus today. Not three gods but one, who together are described as the ‘Trinity’ – a description not so much of philosophy but of the relationship at the heart of God.
In the most famous Christian prayer we pray ‘Our Father…’ This creator God wants a relationship with us, for us to be his children and to give us, as Jesus says, ‘life in all its fulness’ (John 10.10).
