The service paints many vivid pictures of what happens on the Christian way.
If you are engaged to be married and looking for a church to be married in, then congratulations! A wedding is one of life's great moments, a time of solemn commitment as well as good wishes, feasting and joy.
If someone you know and love has died, a funeral led by a Church of England minister can be held in church, in a churchyard, by a graveside, or at a crematorium. The minister will be there to support you every step of the way.
Garrowby is a benefice which has community at its heart. In each of the five villages the church is there for everybody, regardless of whether they attend services regularly. Both through worship, through offering time and opportunities for prayer and reflection, offering pastoral support and providing the impetus for social activities which bring people together, the church is at the centre of the local community. This provides a perfect opportunity for the church itself to grow as well as fostering a commitment to giving, to helping and supporting others.
This sense of community goes beyond the immediate locality of the five parishes.
We welcome visits from other church or special interest groups, taking seriously the impetus embodied in the Malines Conversations of bringing people together. There are social initiatives too such as Food Bank Collections to offer practical support to those suffering financial hardship.
This is the vision we should like a new incumbent to share, a vision which offers scope for growth both within and beyond the churches themselves, a vision which will bring us closer as we strive together to ‘Live Christ’s Story’ in a world which has never felt in greater need of God’s healing presence.
